Took this shot of the Fisher Towers along hwy 128 (north of Moab) last week just before storm clouds encompassed the area and the rains came. Might I add that I just love camping with a wet dog!
Normally, I try to incorporate the Colorado River into this scene, but it was too high and fast. Thus, there was no reflection of the towers and it was impossible to find a comp without the ever-present tamarisk on the shoreline mucking up the scene. If it wasn't for the ominous sky, I wouldn't have bothered with the shot (as I've shot it in the past). This image was cropped slightly on the top and bottom from the original.
Great light, and nearly flawless composition & exposure!
Just the right amount of detail in the shadows.
I really like the many almost sweeping layers as presented here. Plenty of areas for the eye to wander and enjoy.
The only thing I might pick at would be to ever so slightly decrease the saturation in the flatter area of sandstone just to the right of the Towers (not on the Towers themselves, though). That might serve to enhance the Towers even more.
Well done, Guy! Looking forward to seeing more from your last journey.
I'm with John and Erik on this. The light is killer, the ominous clouds are great, and the framing of the shot is excellent. Who needs a river reflection?!

There is not a single thing I don't like about this. Excellent job!
