In the Falls
I opted for a low angle here to just showcase the falls. The whole day was cloudy rainy except this brief moment of bright sun. I gave it a shot.

Thanks for your time and comments

Very nice Anthony, love the lighting especially the textures it created on the fg rock. I like the low angle as well, the river creates a nice curve through the frame.

I wouldn't mind seeing a tad more contrast through the midtones/shadows, TK's luminous masks would probably work nicely.

Nice capture.

Thanks Kevin - I came back to this later and noticed the lack of contrast. I really have to watch when I process photos when its a bright day or at night. Anyway It desperately needed some midtone boost and local contrast. Thanks again. Heres a repost

Very nice,Anthony. Excellent soft water and the little wake at the bottom points back to the motion from above, cool comp!

Outstanding perspective; the near-far thing is really working here (and it's great to see this technique applied in a relatively tight space).

May I ask where this shot was taken?

Very nice! I like the low perspective and the composition. the light is kissing the wet rocks in several places in the frame, leading you all the way back and up into the falls! Well seen and executed.

Anthony--thanks. Which canyon am I looking at here? I can't place it. The multiple waterfall tiers have me wracking my brain. It's not Illinois, LaSalle, Wildcat, St. Louis, Tonti...

No problem Kerry, this is actually above LaSalle. There are some nice little falls up there but only accessible off trail. I was scouting this area and will most likely return when its more green, more water, and some foggy conditions would be nice

Thanks, Anthony. I assume then this is the area directly above LaSalle. Depending on where you stand in the lower bowl, you can catch a glimpse of another waterfall above the main LaSalle Canyon waterfall. I gather this is what I'm seeing in the background of your image. Isn't there an "unofficial" spur off the main Starved Rock bluff trail--the remnants of an old trail, I believe--that takes you to a point where you can access this area? I've not done it myself, but I'm pretty sure that's what I've been told.

Exactly Kerry, I didnt know off the trail until I stumbled upon it. So I just followed it knowing it would lead that way. Its a neat little area. There are a lot of old trails that run through the park and its too bad you cant use them "supposedly". Most of them aren't dangerous but many a people have ruined it for everyone. I just take care where I go and be safe. But its the hidden gems Im after

Thanks again, Anthony. Next time I'm there I may have to check it out myself.
