Red Kite
I went to Christmas Common for the first time on Saturday and was amazed by how many kites there were and by how close they came. I think I enjoyed my session there more than my last trip to Gigrin.

I had to tack a bit of canvas onto the right hand side - hope it doesn't seem to obvious. Apart from bit that I removed from the left afterwards, it's full frame.

All comments appreciated.

Nice to see a Chilterns bird without a wing tag

You should try that site in winter, 15 years ago they were getting up to 60 birds at the roost, goodness only knows how many there are now. It was featured in one of Bill Oddies programmes eons ago.....

FYI this site is very close to the Getty estate where the Chiltern release programme was started back in the late '80s and where the English red kite re-introduction started from.

Thanks for your informative comments Mike. Interestingly, I didn't see a single kite with a wing tag. I was surprised to see such a high density of birds there. Does anyone know if they are still fed anywhere in the vicinity?
