In the trenches
I have to apologize about leaving very few comments, but life is in super hectic mode. Besides madness at the office, I'm trying to get the exterior of my house painted this weekend, so I've been spending every evening on prep work for the last couple weeks. This morning was too sweet to turn down though. While Stan and Todd were goofing around above the clouds, I was down in the trenches in North Cheyenne Canyon. I also shot it on 4X5, but this shot is from the LX3. BTW, there are lots of trees and shrubs in bloom in the lower portion of North Cheyenne Canyon right now and will probably be some blooming in the upper portion by this weekend.

Very nice, Mel. I like the mood of the image, and your comp. I like how the water is flowing down to the right of the image, and then to the left. I want to walk along that stream, down between the trees to see what is beyond. Very pretty.

I really like the earthen colors in this image. That combined with the light, give a lot of feeling
to it. Nice job!

Cheyenne Canyon is becoming your spot, Mel. I like how this image pulls the viewer through.

I like the composition. I agree with Todd about the depth in the image. Also feels very cool and damp. Good work.

I love the mood here! You're getting some great stuff from this location!

I don't know about Cheyenne Canyon as a whole, but this is definitely my spot in Cheyenne Canyon. I think its the fir leaning over the creek that makes this work. Hopefully the 4X5 shots will give the same mood when I eventually get them developed.

In case this looks familiar...

Now I just need a nice summer day in there.

On a sad note, last Friday I drove through Cheyenne Canyon to check conditions on my way home and the police were in there working on the Jason Holley case at a spot where I planned to stop and shoot. The reports on that murder indicate that he was killed for his video game console. What a shame.

I like it! Sort of has an old world primal forest look to it by my eyes.

Nice comp and rich colors. I need to get out for some shooting and Cheyenne canyon would be a good place to explore. I hear ya about being busy!

Nice job Mel. I like the comp and the foggy "atmosphere" of the image. As Kelly said, it evokes an interesting mood.
