A few of us RMNPers are considering a trip to the Pacific Northwest )Oregon and NoCal only) the first week of June... anyone have some suggestions for shooting locations?
We're flying into Portland and are considering shooting in/around the following locations:
- Columbia River Gorge - especially waterfalls
- Oregon Cost (from Cannon Beach working down south)
- Redwood parks along 101/Redwood Highway south of Crescent City CA
- Maybe Willamette Valley
Any suggestions (and sample pics if possible) would be greatly appreciated! (I've also posted over at the PNW board)
Nat, Take a look at Marc Adamus website if you haven't already. Also there's a new book out by Greg Vaughn "Photographing Oregon" thats really good! Last year I took the same trip only a week earlier and was too early for the Rhododendram -? in Lady Bird Johnson Grove located in the Redwoods. Its a killer shot if you arrive at the right time. I'm sure you'll get many suggestions from the PNW group.
Looks like you have most of it covered, when coming down the coast make sure you make it to Shore Acres state park by Charleston/Coos Bay. The sandstone cliffs in that area are beautiful. Have fun its great time to visit Oregon.

I'll second the Photographing Oregon book, it's very good, and great photos to help you decide if it's a spot you would be interested in.
I am conducting a a workshop in the gorge & coast ( www.macroandmore.com) the 1st week in June. I scheduled the coast June 6-7. There are really LOW tides early AM---great for tide pools. I'll be at Seal Rock State Park--a great tide pool area on Sunday Am ( -2' tide I think )
Seal ock SP is just south or Newport and is really great for tide pool photography. Look for us!
