I shot this sage last Saturday in RMNP. I was drawn to the twisted trunk, and the growth at the top. It seemed to be saying, "I've got one more season in me yet." I know how it feels.

I like!
Good job isolating the lone bush with the DOF but it still blends into the background quite a bit. If you could tone down the brighter areas in the background a bit it might stand out more (tough with this subject).
I too like where you are going with this one. Good colors and interesting subject. My only nit is the grass stalks behind the bush appear just as sharp as the bush. The color contrast catches my eye and it is difficult for me to separate the two. This is probably due to the small image size.

Love your observation Morris as well as the shape of this old specimen. Maybe a slight vignette could make it a bit more of a standout. Nice color palette!
Thanks Chuck, Steven, and Pamela for your comments. Steven there are no grass stalks behind the bush, that is actually the blossoms of the bush, so maybe a touch more sharpening is called for to bring those out more. Pamela I have already applied a small amount of vignetting, so perhaps a touch more is needed.
I like the vignetting, maybe a touch more. A nice display of survival. I've been feeling a bit twisted lately, too, but I'll be ok. lol. Stark yet beautiful.
I really like this one!
Would love to see more separation from the background, but have no idea how you would accomplish it.
The vignette looks great...I didn't comsciously notice it 'til you mentioned it. That's a good thing!
Thanks again to the additional posters.
Jesse, it was at 64mm on my 28-135, iso 200, 5.0 @ 1/160sec. And man, would I love to have a 90mm TSE. Shoot, I would love to have any TSE. Good to hear from you, too. I would love to see some posts by you from the far north country.
