Filter Question on Canon's 16-35mm/2.8 II

I'll eventually buy a CPL for the 16-35mm II, and wanted to know if I need a slim CPL. There seems to be a decent amount of real estate between the edge of the glass and the filter threads, so is a slim-mount needed? The regular-frame filters are more affordable, and at 82mm it's no small price!

Thanks.

Try this filter: "Hoya 82mm Circular Polarizing HD (High Density) Digital Glass Filter "

It is almost as thin as a slim mount filter yet has a normal front thread, and is of very nice optical quality. As to whether you truly need a 'slim' filter, that depends. At small apertures you can probably get away with a regular one, but if you ever need to double up with another filter, a thin filter will be critical. With the Hoya you don't have to sacrifice anything (except maybe some cash)!

Thanks Floris. Actually, that should work, I won't be stacking another on top, if anything I'd just be hand-holding a 4x6 Singh-Ray grad over it. Thanks for the reply. BTW, I've purchased from 2Filter before, they definitely have the best prices.

Hey, went through your Wordpress blog the other day, outstanding work!
