Adobe and product activation?

I'm building up my new pc and am wondering what sort of activation issues I might have when I install Photoshop CS4 and Lightroom on it. They're currently installed on my old pc. Do I need to remove/deactivate them first? (That could be an issue as the old pc doesn't always boot up) I look forward to being able to post images again!
Thanks,
Paul

Photoshop should be deactivated on the old machine before activating it on the new machine. Adobe's licensing allows you to have it licensed to two machines as long as you don't use them simultaneously. So, if you ever want to put Photoshop on a laptop, you are best to deactivate it from the old machine and free up that license.

I don't believe that Lightroom requires activation.

I hope that helps.

If you need to deactivate a license on a dead machine, you'll probably need to contact Adobe directly. They can handle it and generally seem to be good about dealing with it, but it is going to be a bit of a pain to deal with. I'd try to deactive PS on the zombie machine just so you are not throwing that license away.

Not knowing the particulars of why the old machine doesn't always boot up, I had one that way. Something about the internal batteries which I could solve by leaving it plugged in for a day or two, then trying to start it up. Your problem is probably different, but it is an idea.

(P.S. zombie machine: it is dead but doesn't know it)

Like others have said Adobe is very helpful in these situations. Try to deactivate the original installation, then install on the newer computer and see if it will automatically activate. If not a short call to Adobe should get you up and running.
