Slighly different comp, B&W.

Oh, b&w without a doubt!
Although the colors here are nice, the varied tones make this a very successful b&w.
You did a stellar job of conversion, too.

Color. No doubt. Sorry John. :)

Thanks for the clear consensus, guys

Stan, although the BW is a nice conversion, the color gets my vote. For some reason, I would like to see more contrasting dark tones in the foreground and in the clouds to draw the viewer in and to keep them in the frame.

I enjoy your work very much.

I prefer the b/w. The contrast and tones are lovely in that one and makes it a bit more dramatic than the color.

I have to agree with my neighbor--I prefer the B&W. It took me awhile, but I finally realized they are two different shots. I like the composition of the B&W better.

I'm with Joe about the B&W and the comp. Better balance as the centered rock brings my eye to the notch in the mountains. In the color the elements seem to be fighting each other. Really good conversion, too.

I'll say b/w, because it helps overcome the dominant broken earth in the foreground - which somewhat overpowers the main subject in the color version. Without the foreground, color would certainly get my vote.

I like the comp in the b&w better, but if you showed me the color version of that one, I'd bet I choose that!

b&w. love the subtle tonalities in those trees!

B&W Stan. The color doesn't have enough foreground interest for me.

Definitely, without question, no doubt in my mind, black & white. Those trees in the middle ground take on a whole new life when their tonal range is consistent with those tones of the rest of the image. In the color one, they are merely lost in the fog.

That's not to say that the color one isn't extraordinary as well, but since you made us choose...

Can I vote more thant once? B&W, B&W, B&W! Both are nice Stan but the B&W wins just because it is B&W. :toast:

I can't decide. I like the B&W, but then again I also like the B&W. I think I'm leaning towards the B&W, but the B&W has some merits too! :argue:

B&W! When I first opened the thread, I thought it would be the color one, but then I looked at the b&w, and that really pops. The contrasty patterns have so much great detail, and the monochrome treatment really brings out the effect.

I like the B&W, it just looks a tiny bit better.

I like the BW. Very dramatic, and the clouds seem to pop out more.

OK, thanks folks--i was definitely leaning towards the B&W and you have confirmed my preference! Very helpful, thanks.
In the color version, i lose some of the tones (in the B&W i pulled back the blue)

I'm a little late to the party, but definitely B&W, IMO.

One more vote for BW for the same reasons as so succinctly and concisely mentioned earlier.

Thanks for the input, guys!

I am on the color band wagon here!

The brown hill competes with the mountains and dramatic light in the color version. B&W clears that up for me.

B&W is much more interesting for me for the reasons well stated above. Good work! :toast:
