Good morning all, hope you are all well. I haven't been around for a while so apologies for that, I have just come back from holiday so hopefully I will have some nice images to show very soon.
Anyway, I would really appreciate some advice on lens's.
I used to have and occasionally have the use of a 500mm F4 P lens, great lens but very hard work.
I use my 180mm macro a lot for wildlife as I have been concentrating of garden birds, and it does the job ok. I would like something with a little more reach but at the same time versatile which leads me to the Bigma but has anyone had any joy with the sigma's 150-500mm OS? I know early tests didn't rate it hat much.
Any suggestions, advice or local loans/try-outs would be welcome !
A proper full length tube 500 f4 prime is always the best option for image quality and bokeh as I always say that bokeh is a function of aperture and tube length; the longer the tube the soother out-of-focus objects will look for any given aperture.

I had both, - the 50-500 and the 150- 500
I wouldn't bother with the first one.
I still use the 50-500 and you can see what I,ve done with it. Its good enough for me.
It does tend to suck a bit of dust in behind the front element after a while but its no big deal to take the front off and clean it.
I highly rate the Sigma f4.5 a little smaller than the main brand F4's and the build and sharpness is very good. They dont hold thier prices as well so you can get some used bargins. Its worth searching mifsuds or the other good camera dealers used sections, i picked mine for £1800 boxed as new a few years ago.

Make of it what you will

As stated above there may be a few of these knocking about SH and at a reasonable price too considering their price new.
