I wish someone would have posted something outside of Nate's original 3-photo series post telling everyone that that idea had been scrapped and a new Avian discussion forum was being developed instead. I did not follow Nate's post after the first day, so I thought you could still post a series and I did. Then I was told that was a bad idea, so I went back and deleted the two additional photos. Can someone please clarify what is happening. Of did I miss a general announcement somewhere? Just trying to do things right. Thanks.
I understand your confusion, and it was one of the many discussion points I raised in Nate's original post on allowing series in Avian. I thought it needed public discussion in the general and a carefully thought out plan before it was arbitrarily announced.
And it needed a public retraction to avoid the confusion you encountered.
I am glad the subject was brought up, for some time I have thought about bringing up the possibility of an separate Avian Discussion forum and I am looking forward to it being created. So thank you Peter & Nate!
It will be great to have a place to post series shots, I have a series of a Black Skimmer doing some thing I'd never seen before and have questions about, perhaps I will find the answer after posting it. I know several other people who have emailed me a series of shots asking if I had seen a particular behavior and in an open forum they might have gotten many answers to those questions.
I also believe it will be wonderful to have a place to discuss our gear, techniques and ask for species ID without using up one of our posts in the critique forum.
Because all of this would be in a discussion forum, the information will hang around and not drop off after just 35 days and would be searchable.
I know that I will actively particpate, extend help when I can and be will grateful for any help I receive.
I am looking forward to this because I have been told, strangely, that I don't choose the correct best picture from series of my pics. A quick review from pros/experienced photographers could easily set me straight.
Also very interested in seeing series by others -- Nate's series was an example of how interesting these can be.
