Magnolia Falls

I started my Saturday afternoon at Paradise falls to find the sun coming out, and a large tree across the falls. Oh well, no pics but it was still pretty. I didn't realize how large that thing really is. Quite impressive standing at the top.

From there I went to Magnolia, Stahle, an Woods Boys falls. I learned never to trust a shoulder strap as I watched my camera bag fall about 20 feet into the creek. Fortunately everything stayed dry.

I ended up camping near Magnolia falls and met up with Tom, Bill, Dottie and Stan about 5 in the morning at the trail head to Bowers Hollow. As Bill noted earlier the weather men got it wrong and the sun was out and bright and early. Oh well again I got to see a beautiful waterfall with good company. All and all a pretty good weekend.

Kitchen Falls!!! That's pretty good! You have a nice collection going.Glad the camera survived the fall. My strap has never slipped and I do trust it. But, the camera does stay in the bag on the move as much as possible. Karla fell yesterday and landed on the backpack, but I had the camera at the time. Only hurt her pride a bit!

yea kitchen falls is an inside flickr thing. I have a few buddies on there that like to have fun. I almost beat that camera down to the bottom. I'm glad I was in the wilderness a used some pretty choice words.

Nice shot Matt...Sounds like you had a great weekend like us! Saturday ended up being perfect conditions for shooting...We thought it would be raining all day and didn't head up north, but salvaged the day by making a run to Longpool since we were already in the area visiting family. And yes...I sacrificed my body yesterday trying to get to a great spot at the lower falls...Funny thing is, I just gave Mike a hard time for twisting his ankle...Told him "He needed to be more careful"...Lesson learned

Sounds like a busy weekend in the woods in NW Arkansas. Glad everyone and everything escaped with only good memories. I would like to see some more detail in the darks of this Magnolia Falls shot but I sure like the greens of the foliage and the wonderful exposure on the fall itself. Thanks for sharing.

Matt, You scored a few great images. The ferns from Bowers image is excellent.

Looks like you came away with some really nice work, Matt - I especially like the fern shot from Bowers. Sometimes when the weather gives you lemons, you just have to make lemonade.

Thanks everyone.

Yea Wayne I think you are right with the shadows being a little dark on the Magnolia falls shot. I will have to work on it. I have a ton of shots of this waterfall and it will probably take me a while to figure out which one I like best.

Bill what was the name of the scanning place you told me about in Colorado? By the way I took a shot of Lake Beaverfork this morning that you would just love to do on canvas.

Beavorfork looks great! That would be nice to blow up or canvas. Very nice!

I was sort of joking about the canvas print. Bill was telling me how difficult shots of sunsets/sunrises can be to do on canvas. A slight canvas "defect" can create a very distracting spot on a large area of the same color, such as water or a sky. At least that is what I understood Bill to be telling me, printing is not my thing.

Matthew,

Love the ferns! Glad they were in abundance to give the area some balance with all that poison ivy around....ha! Good to meet you and we enjoyed your company, and as I said, your endless enthusiasm. Hope to meet up with you again sometime.

Matthew, the name of the place in Boulder is Photocraft Imaging. You'll probably be directed to Jen Freehill, who is great to work with.
