This is just a quick FYI. I was out to the Dry Fork of Coyote Gulch over the weekend and there's a pretty significant road hazard around the Early Weed Bench turn-off. Having never been down the road before, I don't know if it's a "standard" obstacle, but I'd say it probably isn't given how publicized the Peek-a-Boo and Spooky slot hike is...
The obstacle is a long stretch (~60-80 feet?) of deep "sand" that conceals some heavily rutted/torn-up road. I put "sand" in quotes because it's more the consistency of flour than of sand, and about the same color - probably pulverized clay. The stuff is more than 8" deep in spots, and if you get in the wrong track you can bottom out most stock SUVs on the ridges of the eroded road surface. There were a few car parts left behind in the sand when I went through...
If you plan on taking the road in the near future, check in with the BLM in Escalante first, and if you don't have a dedicated off-road vehicle, take a few seconds to scout it out with your feet. You'll save yourself some worry after you've made it through.
