Fauna Gallery: Pick of the Week

This was a good week to be hanging out in the Fauna Gallery - not only was the quantity of images posted up, but the quality of the images (which was already very good in the past) was also way up! Of course, this made my choice for Pick of the Week quite difficult...but it was a real pleasant problem.

My long list of possible picks was really long this week, and included all the following shots (consider this a "field guide" to many of last week's inspiring shots) - all are very worthy and if you enjoy cutting-edge wildlife photography you owe it to yourself to give this images a good, long look:

• Dueling Teenagers by Paul Marcellini
• Before The Great One by Anthony Gibson
• Pocket Gopher by Richard Ditch
• Bluespine Unicornfish by Charlie VanTassel
• Princess at her Royal Palace by Jagdeep Rajput
• Fall rut in Yellowstone by Robert Bunch
• I Don't See You! by Jorne de Bruin

Ultimately, though, I felt two shots stood out even more than those above. The first was Bruno Silva's beautiful image of a horse at sunset entitled "Serenity". And the second was a shot of a not uncommon but extremely difficult-to-observe (and even more difficult-to-photograph) species - a wild bobcat captured in the act of refreshing itself with a drink of water right at sunset.

Josh - your 13 days in a blind paid off with a great image! Congratulations - "Wild Bobcat" is this week's Pick of the Week for the Fauna Gallery!

Thanks to all who posted images and/or comments in the Fauna Gallery this past week.

Cheers...

Brad

I don't mind losing to Josh's excellent bobcat. Well done!
