Incredible birds. I love their eyes and position in the first. Great find :toast:

You were just driving around and, uh, sort of "ran into this" photo op?! OMG, you're killin' me, Cliff! What a find! I'd watch the weather and beat it back there every time there's a good sky! You say you're off to beg, borrow or steal that 500/4, eh… ? What did you shoot this with?

I've come to like bright skies at times and this is one of them. Getting birds to look nice and sharp when small in the frame like this is a challenge, but you pulled it off. You did a great job exposing this too. Very artistic images, I like the second one better. :toast:

Catherine, this was kinna funny. We had been driving around shooting old buildings and seeing all kinds of hawks nests and we came around this corner and saw this nest aways off, another hawks nest, till i got closer and noticed 'Spock' ears. I got as close as i could on a knoll, got two shots before the 'mother' owl took off. But i had my 200 2.8 with a 2x extender. And the whole time i was telling my wife who was pretty excited, that all those times you cut me off talking about that nice lens we should buy...... And i dont know if they nest in the same nest year after year, but i will check it out next year for sure......maybe with one of those nice lenses, ow........my wife just hit me!

 Maybe I should have a word with her, woman to woman… But she might hit me just the same! LOL. Really great shots, Cliff. Sounds like a fun "hunt" too.

It wouldn't surprise me if they do nest in the same location. A bigger lens and some early/late light would be sweet.
