Great Spotted Woodpecker
Found two GSW nests whilst out cycling yesterday. Returned to the most easily photographed one this morning with the full kit.

E-520, 300/f2.8 + 2x TC, ISO 400, 1/200 @ f7.1, small crop for composition.

Hi Paul, lovely shot, the light does look a bit harsh in places but not a lot you can do about that. Look forward to seeing some more now you know where they are! :toast:

A lot of potential here, if possible a more side on viewpoint, will potentially give you the adults feeding the chicks.

You should also be able to make the scene more photogenic, with a little bit of thought.

good image but dull harsh lighting is not helping you. If the birds are ammenable why not try a couple of fill flashes on poles to lift the shadows/
