This is no photo gem but an intereseting behavioural shot which I feel will be more important as time goes on. All the normal species shots /bird on a twig/bird in a pond has been done. Picture researchers are becoming redundant by the minute !!
This was about the funniest thing I have seen in all my years with nature. The male swayed from left to right , getting lower each time until his flanks actually touched the floor. ! Then with wings drooped and tail spread he started going around in circles. Never seen anything like it. The female had a few sips of water and then cleared off ! As you would expect from a courted female ( ooops ! )
Any way it was interesting.

I saw something fairly similar the other day John. I thought the Chaffinch has flown into a window and was concussed until I saw the female nearby and put two and two together! Certainly an interesting shot.
Either more DOF to include the female, or crop it out entirely, thus concentrating on the male. Still an interesting record shot, which requires description.

The female was left in to show what the male was displaying to as this is a biological interest shot not a photo gem as I stated.. To get 12 inches of depth of field on 800 ISO at F7.1 with a 300mm at about 6 foot distance is even beyond me !
What do you mean " requires description ?"
