Foothills Wildflowers
Shot over to the Flatirons Boulder around 6.30am this morning to check out the flowers for myself. The Asters/sunflowers? are clearly in full bloom, but looks like perhaps peak bloom is still not quite here. Lighting wasn't too exciting, so I won't post any from there.

After visiting the Flatirons we headed south to the Mesa Trail area off of Eldorado Springs road, hiked a 3.7 mile loop. This trail and area has alot more wildflowers, here is my list of what I saw: Fireweed, Harebell, Bluebells, Wild Rose, Indian Paintbrush, Yucca, Yarrow, Golden Rod, Shooting Star, Jacobs Ladder, Spiderwort, Cinquefoil, wild iris...more I'm not sure of.

Birds also on the trail included Steller's Jay, Spotted Towhee, and Western Tanager.

These few images are more documentary, the lighting wasn't the best.

Spiderwort?

You are correct. #3 is a Pine Spiderwort. It's a beautiful image. Do you have any of the Nik filters?
Their Skylight filter might add that bit of warmth to all three images. Really make them pop.
Very tough light to shoot in.
I love the bokeh in #3...really great depth to the background.
Great work.

The second pic is a lupine. The leaves of a lupine have that very distinctive shape.

Thanks guys for the ID's, my wildflower leaflet is not the best.
David I don't have any of the NIK filters, but I did add a little of the warming filter to the first image in PS, but the lighting was so flat!. All 3 images I had a hard time colour correcting, This version may be slightly closer to how it was.

I like the spiderwort flower image quite a bit.
Looked like a good day to concentrate on individual flowers.

Thanks John. The lighting definitely was better for close-ups, just wish I'd brought along my macro lens instead of my landscape lenses

Good lighting for flowers. Really nice shots, Nick.

The flower shots are really impressive. Great job taking advantage of not ideal landscape conditions

Nice work Nick. Looks like summer is coming upon us. This recent moisture should present us with some surprises this year!
