Redheaded Woodpecker at Feeder
Weather was iffy this morning so I went to a friend's backyard here in El Dorado to shoot. Lots of birds visiting her feeders. This was the best of the lot. Sorry to only have a "feeder shot" to share today.

40D, 700mm, f/5.6, 1/250s, ISO 200, flash-fill, cropped to vertical

This is the first time I have ever seen a woodpecker at a feeder so I guess it is possible. Great shot.

Very nice! Love the color. I guess I need to post a feeder shot. Weekends are for shooting in the wilderness and Mon-Fri in the backyard.

Daniel

What a nice capture. I have had the pleasure of photographing the same species I find them to be a big challenge trying to retain feather detail in both black and white.

Any advice you can share Daniel you always manage to demonstrate the skill?

Daniel, you really nailed the exposure in this shot. Well done.
