Getting there with these owls - this is more akin to what I had in mind but as ever, time running out and only two more sessions before moving on to search for beaver. What is interesting here is that just out of shot, there is a white electric fence from which the birds hunt. That and the fact that the field is full of horses hardly makes this a boreal wilderness! Truly spectacular creatures though and a real privilege.
Superb capture! The backlighting is very nice indeed and angle of view is perfect. Not sure about the background noise though - seems quite pronounced for iso 400?
Sorry but this just doesn’t gel for me. It’s primarily the “streaking” on the far wing which disturbs me the most. Still an experience which I envy you for having.
I love this Pete. A wee bit further up/down movement on the right wing would have killed it for me - the beautiful line of leg up to face and on to wing is just perfect, and this shape is almost exactly echoed on the back of the owl. Little details, but thats what lifts merely good images into the category of the excellent. Glad the hard work is paying off for you.
Thats pretty nice, although have to agree with the noisy background, but it isn't really apparent on first glance. Nice rim lighting too and position looks spot on.
