Here it is!

OK, no mention of 24p or 25p, but at least Canon's listening. Manual control is a big one. We'll take it!

Oh my, that's beyond amazing.. I'm impressed that they actually were willing to do this, and not make us buy yet another camera! I might actually try it once that comes out, thanks!

That is awesome! I love the video quality on my 5D II, but it always bothered me that there weren't manual controls. Very cool.

You said it. Getting manual control is a huge one, I just feel bad for the folks that bought expensive ND filters to get narrow DOF during outside shooting (although they won't go to waste if they do nature shots with water).

Between this news and discovering Cineform's NeoScene that converts 5D2 video into smooth AVIs for viewing and easy HD editing in Premiere, this 5D2 really IS becoming a game changer.

I hearing June 2nd. I don't know if you Nikon users know this but there is an adaptor being made by a guy in Miami Florida that will allow you to use nikkor glass on a Canon body. The only catch is that it has to be an older lens with an aperture ring. We use this body at work for the still photographers that need to capture a little video for the web side of our publication. It saves from having to deploy our only video guy. The D90 sucks as it locks up when it gets hot so when we found out that you could use nikkor glass on this body and we bought 2 of them for the photo staff to share. I’m really glad we did now, as the 5D is way ahead of D90 in the hybrid department.

I see a lot of people using Nikon glass on their 5D2 in the vids they upload to Vimeo... interesting.

BTW, I've heard of the "heating up" thing when shooting video, and I don't get any of that, and I think I know why. You can supposedly use cards as slow at 8mb/sec for video on a 5D2 and they will work, such as SanDisk Ultra II's. But the 5D2 supports UDMA cards like the 45mb/sec SanDisk IV's I use, and since UDMA technology takes the stress off the host (the 5D2 in our case) during file transfer, I think this may reduce the video/heat issue. Just a theory... one thing I proved though is MUCH better battery life with UDMA cards over something like a SanDisk Ultra II, simply because the write times are way less and the 5D2 isn't doing all the work. So UDMA isn't just about transferring files to a PC/Mac, it's better battery life a cooler video shooting. And given the incredibly low prices + rebates, all 5D2 owners should try a UDMA card and see what they think (SanDisk Extreme IV or Lexar 300x). No, I don't work for SanDisk or Lexar.
