Hovering Puffin
Took this shot a couple of weeks back at RSPB Bempton Cliffs when the winds where at north easterlys and most of the seabirds where pushed up the cliff to eye level. This Puffin just gave me a 5 second window to capture the image before making its way down the cliff and out on to the sea.

Better than any Puffy shot I've got Steve

Two nits from me - it's a bit big in the frame, and f4.5/5 would have got the wing sharp too on your 300mm - yep, that would have dropped your speed to around a 650th but you'd still have got the shot I think.

No big thing though - you've done well here :wavey:

Nice shot, a bit tight in the frame for me too, but an interesting and unsual pose - I like! Think it could do with a touch more sharpening. Well captured!

Looks like a swimming pool diving (oops, anthropomorphism!) As mentioned, a bit tight in the frame but otherwise, very accomplished.

Cheers,
Chris

Aside from a little more breathing space I think this is great. Certainly a different pose :toast:

all nits covered, but aside from these it's a great capture. Was at Bempton for an entire week last week and didn't manage a Puffin flight shot half as crisp as this

cheers

Maybe a little tight, but I'd be very happy indeed to have taken this.
