Flamingo's mating, Camargue
One from a recent trip to the Camargue. Many flamingo's present this year with a good number entertaining themsleves in this very photogenic fashion. This iamge is taken just after the critical moment when the male starts to take his leave of his mate.

Great action shot, if only the females beak was slightly higher in the water but I guess its thirsty work  :toast:

Hi Paul

Nice capture in great light - the female looks more interested in her next meal

Think David's right about the female's lack of interest: very Lily Allen!!

Love the vivid colours on this as well as the action.

Amazing! I was also struck by the female's apparent lack of interest.

Hi all, its an interesting point but all the female flamingos mating have their beak in the water during the 'act' (and I watched quite a few over the week I was there) perhaps they dont want to look, however I personally liked the head in the water, posibly they think they are aquatic ostriches!!
