I photographed in the Kings River Valley east
of Fresno this April. I now think that cropping
off the white tree to the right would make this a
stronger composition. I value your opinions.
Very nice Robert. I usually look at the pictures before reading the photographers comments. And I was thinking how I liked the tree (oak?) to the right because it seems to balance the color of the other objects out. The layering is also very nice here.
The only thing I can think of which I might have tried a bit differently is to apply more of the rule of thirds since both the tree and the river are both centered in this comp. Although I do not think that this alone takes away from an otherwise beautiful scene.
This is one thing I wish I had shot more of back in April.
Wonderful colors here, Robert. I too like the old oak tree on the right. I might try a slight crop from the top and left to see how things look, maybe cutting out a portion if not all the of the heavy limb coming in at the ULHC. Not sure that would work, but might be another alternative. Again, the mixture of colors here is excellent IMO.
Nice! I kind of like the white tree too. I was here a week or two early and the redbuds weren't red yet.. can't wait to have the time to shoot them next year!

Kool shot Robert. the pinks in the middle makes a huge difference to the scene. I only wish you could get more closer to the foreground flowers ?
That's a California sycamore tree on the right. I actually like the image best when cropped from the left, so that the upper half features the brilliant pink of the redbud on the left and the bony white frame of the sycamore on the right. Then with the layers of yellow and green below, I think its striking!
