I will be in Portland the first week of Sept and am wondering if the waterfalls east of town in the Columbia River gorge will still be worth the drive? Any suggestions of what to focus on at that time? Thanks--Larry
Yes. The waterfalls in the Columbia River Gorge are always worth the drive. The drive through the Columbia River Gorge is always worth the drive. September is fabulous in Oregon (unless you are unlucky and catch the first week of rain).
What Ned said. The coast can be nice too. There's a lot of snow at the higher elevations still, so wildflowers may even run that late high on the mountains.
