Not sure why they call this Indian Pink > I sure don't see much pink on it!

Anyway, found this growing at Camp Robinson WDA this week. First time I had seen it anywhere, but since I don't get out as much as some of you do, you're probably very familiar with it. Only a small patch growing at the Camp that I've found but sure looks nice!

Nikon D300; Nikkor 28-105 macro; f14; 1/25; -1/3 comp.; Bogen tripod w/Cullmann 40200 Magnisit head.

Enjoy!

Here is a link to a US Forest Service page concerning the Indian Pink, Spigelia marilandica

looks pretty red to me and I'm red colorblind.

Hey Mike you have got to get a new weed eater, I saw you out struggling with that plastic electric thing today.

Sweet image, the red on green really pops.

Thanks to all! Since I don't shoot wildflowers much I've been trying to develop my technique. Wildlife is my forte so I'm always on the lookout for a way to widen my horizons. I'm especially excited when I can find an unusual subject like this Indian pink (unusual at least in this area of the state).

Mike, if you're going to the camp you'll find these by turning left at the first intersection after entering the park, then going up the central road (just keep going straight after you turn). These are about a third of a mile on the left just after you cross the bridge over the small creek. The ones pictured here are right along the road but there are more in the patch just behind them. If you go past the road that cuts to the left you've gone too far.

Daniel, thanks for the link. Good info about this plant. Once my wife saw these pictures she is determined to get some for her garden so this tells me that I should be able to find some at a nursery rather than going out in the middle of the night to "confiscate" some!

Have a great day!
