Little Blue Heron - Fledgling Spreading Its Wings
One of many images from Lake Martin taken early May 29, 2009.
40D, 700mm, f/13, 1/640s, ISO 200, cropped to 80% of FF.

He looks like an albino! I didn't know the chicks were almost pure white. Gorgeous shot! It's nice to see the blue sky again! I missed it!

Here is a shot of a parent Little Blue about to feed a begging chick that has fledged. Clearly, feeding one of these is no small task!

And even younger Little Blues . . .

Great shots of a very interesting species.

Excellent Daniel. Feeding those looks about as dangerous for the parents as green herons feeding their young.

Great series, well done on the exposure and the action you captured is very nice

A real nice series, started with a beautiful full bodied portrait. I've seen a number of nature shows that investigate the relationship of modern day birds to the dinosaurs. Based on some of the reconstruction conjectures of dinosaur features, it is easy to see the resemblence in the eyes and structure of the chicks bodies. Nice work Daniel.
