Egret in the mountains
Hello friends,
usually you expect to find an egret around a river or a pond
here you can see one with the alps in the background.
We have a breeding colony next to a little lake close to Innsbruck
they have their nests at the top of very high trees.

Canon 20D; Nikon MF 600 f5,6; Cable, MLU, Tripod

We call this thing a Heron, great shot like the inclusion of environment.

Like it very much, just wonder if it was possible to place the Heron higher in the frame... might help with showing better that they are Alps and not hills if you see what I mean...

I always think God was having a laugh when he gave Herons a propensity for tall spindly tree tops :biggrin:

Hello Bertl.

Nice enviroment shot.

The only nit for me would be to clone over the bright area just belowe the Heron/Egret in front of the tree. to the same as the rest of the mountains.

Nice picture. I have never seen them in combinations with the mountains. I know two breeding colonies in Holland (I suppose there or more) but the have no background with mountains :)

Really nice, love the sense of environment. Where I live the backdrop is normally an old gravel pit! :biggrin:

Nice one Bertl. Our local heronry has blocks of flats as a backdrop. Definately prefer the alps!

Nice shot of a heron in wonderful enviroment (reminds me of my skiing trip). If the camera had been a little lower, then the whole bird and tree top would have been nicely isolated against the sky. That would have been just stunning.
