Osprey
1D2n, 600mm f4 is x1.4TC, 1/1300s, f7.1, iso 400. Just after sun rose over hills. Slight crop.

A pair of osprey have built a nest in a remote part of Scotland, but very close to a path used by hillwalkers. The birds seem to have got used to the hillwalkers. The male has a favourite perch from which he can watch the path for a good half mile. When the walker reaches a certain point, the male calls, both birds do a couple of circuits round the walkers, then return to the perch/nest. They have a choice of at least 5 well stocked lochs, probably all visible from the nest. Wonderful experience to encounter!

Hope you will look at the LARGER VERSION

Great capture Ian :wavey:

It's a bit tight in that top right corner - I'd add a bit more sky at the top and more to the left and possibly remove the OoF foliage to make it a flat blue BG.

Only my opinion mind you!

Like this, great the way the foliage frames the bird, like the big pic link, I hope one we can post big.

Nice shot, hope you are able to get the full story for us with such a co-operative pair.

A cracker Ian, I'm uncertain about the foliage, part of me likes it but part wants to see the bird on a totally blue canvas. Either way I wish it were mine :toast:

A really cracking shot, Ian. You got the wings in just the right position to catch the light. I'm sure you're right about them being used to walkers. Sometimes I think birds like this are more relaxed about us than we are about them! As long as we don't go near the nest!

Great result. I agree with Andy about extending the canvas, but it does help to appreciate the subject if the frame is full at least at 720 pixels. The larger shot shows better how good the shot is.
