Hi All,

Sorry I haven't been around much lately, again. Funny how life just seems to get in the way of doing stuff you like!

Anyway, here's another shot from my recent holiday. Spent ages 'stalking' this guy, but he was always one hop ahead, so I gave up and just sat and watched. Gradually he got used to me and came closer and closer. Not close enough for a nice portrait however as someone (mentioning no names...) came stomping along the path... I quite liked this environment type shot though. Cropped to panoramic-ish format as it's a bit more interesting and I wanted to lose the 'dead space' top and bottom.

Techs: D200, 500mm f4.
1/180sec @ f8, 200ISO

Thanks for looking! C and C most welcome!

I like these sort of shots Dawn. Maybe a tiny bit down on the contrast would make it better for me but its my "head in the right place got to be" monitor again maybe !

Yes that crop works well Dawn. One minor nit is the grass out of the top of the head but know doubt easily removed. :toast:

It's a cool shot, they are curious creatures and do like to come close always watching, I found the females to be braver than the males. I watched a female take food off the male to feed to its young as the male wouldn't come closer.

I think that the crop was exactly the right thing to do with this shot and it makes for a lovely image.

A lovely shot with great colour. Have you tried something even more dramatic, by cropping more from the left, leaving the bird close to the edge of the frame? Try it - I think it is great!

Who was that that came stomping up the path ?!

Really like the image Dawn, I'm glad to see you are filling your potential with that hard to work lens of yours !

If that grass was any more blown out it would make the bird look to have a Mohawk !

Great stuff, keep up the good work, really like this one.
