I spent a couple of nights in the Little Lakes Valley over the weekend scouting out the snow levels. For those interested, the trail is still largely covered around the Chickenfoot lake area with snow, but easily passable earlier in the day when the snow is still hard. I took this image near my camp in the Gem lakes area. Incidentally, it actually snowed an inch or so Sunday afternoon (but unfortunately followed with rain) and some of the remnants can be seen on the fg log.

That's a beauty, Eric. Very peaceful, and the composition is excellent. Too often I see shots of pristine mountain lakes with a boring old rock in the FG poking out of a perfectly glassy reflection, and not adding anything to the image. Not here. The FG that you have shown does a lot to tell the story of the nature of the area and climate, without being heavy handed or forced. Excellent landscape photo, IMO.
Beautiful image Eric. The light, clouds and alpine glow combine to portrait an awesome scene. The glass on the water, reflection and snow around the lake just take it up another notch.
It makes me want to be there! Well thought out and seen.

very nice Eric. A peaceful scene. a touch of red in the sky makes it especial and it beautifully composed too.
Very nice light, and nice comp. I like the balance of the foreground and the shoreline toward the middle. Beautiful.

Fantastic comp here Eric. It must have been pretty tranquil there by looks of your photo. Backpacking in the snow is fun isn't it.
I take there wasn't any snow floating in the lakes around there?
I once camped out at the lake just on the other side of those trees in front of the wall. It was nice but you couldn't see the three peaks at all. I did climb up the icefield in the background once to see what was on the other side. There is a little unnamed lake just under the two peaks on the left.

I'd be tempted to up the saturation a tad in the greens and maybe even the magentas in the sky. Love the reflection and comp.
