For June 2009 the monthly RMNP theme is “Erosion: Sculpted by the Elements.”

Factory Butte, Utah. A few minutes before sunrise.

This is simply outstanding in every way, Adam.

Well, there's next month's cover. I don't think I will post a thing now.

Killer theme. Should be a great thread. But yeah, Adam wins. The pastels, the clarity here, awesome processing.
Posted by Paul Wegemann on June 3, 2009 at 12:27 PM
You certainly set the bar high, Adam. This is fantastic. I'm looking forward to what everyone else comes up with.

Steven, I think your WB is off. I like the treatment you've applied to this image. I've been meaning to explore the Ojito Wilderness for years.

Thanks to everyone for your comments. I guess you get lucky every now and then. I think we're going to see some amazing images submitted this month.

Yeah, you sissies give up too easily. Adam's shot is really nice, but this will be a great month. Glacial carved mountain valleys, slot canyons, grand canyons, arches, hoodoos...

Don't mean to beat a dead horse here, but Adam, your shot is incredibly beautiful. Never seen anything like that. Thanks for posting.

Way to man up, John. I really love this shot of the "ducks" is it? Cool.

O.k. here's my pathetic attempt to compete with Adam's shot. Be a man Morris.

This is Avalanche Creek Gorge in Glacier National Park.

Be a man Morris.

You be a man with this one, Morris!

It was Mel's taunting that made us do it, wasn't it, John?

Excellent shots thus far! I don't think I've posted this one on the forums before. There were quite a few meteors this night, so I just kept taking shots until one showed up in my photo.

This is going to be a fun month for viewing! Excellent stuff already, and I'm sure there's lots more to come.

I've posted this here before, but I think it really fits the topic this month so here it is again... From the Paria area.

Oregon Coast at Shore Acres state park. I really love how the ocean has sculptured these wonderful formations in nature. I studied this area for almost an hour before I decided on this composition, I call this "Leaping Sea Lions".

Some cool stuff so far, folks. This one is from RMNP. Wind sculpted ice.

This month's theme has brought out a wide variety of excellent images! :toast:

Another great set of images so far to compete against, this theme is going to be a good one!.

The Blue Ridge Mountains have been sculptured over millions of years, leaving them looking rounded and layered, so here's my month's entry.

Here is one from Antelope Canyon. I've seen others with more color/texture that would be great for this thread. I call this one "Sacred Light". The mood is what I like most. I felt kinda lucky to come away with any shots from the upper canyon. I was shooting in the shadows at ISO 100, f/18 with a CPL on the lens. I couldn't figure out why everyone else had <1 sec exposures and I was sitting there with the lens open for 8-20 seconds! Duh!

This is from Arches NP, It is a sunrise shot just south of the Windows. It reminds me of a Martian landscape. Shot with a D300 @ 28mm iso200 F8 for 3 seconds.

Alien Snail

I finally got to visit Fantasy Canyon this month. The ranger in the Vernal BLM office warned me that if I had visited Goblin Valley, I would be disappointed. The only thing I found disappointing was that it only covers a few acres.

I hope this qualifies. This was taken at Volcanoes National Park last Sept. I always make it a point to go there when vacationing in Hawai'i. Being there is an experience I can't really explain.

Posted by Bert Fukuda on June 17, 2009 at 11:53 PM
Last one from my Hawai'i trip. This is Waimea canyon on the island of Kauai. This was my first trip to Kauai and definitely won't be my last.

Wow, some very impressive images everyone! Here's my meager contribution: Pike's Peak from last year's excursion.

This is gonna be a tough month to pick the winner from. Superior stuff! This is a pretty good example of natures chisel at work. Taken at Natural Bridges in Utah.

Another from Bisti, one of my favorite areas for examples of erosion.
I've posted this before, I need to look through my recent shoots for something new to share.
