On the edge
I haven't posted any images in some time due to computer problems.
With that solved, I have some catching up to do, so here goes...
I've been eye-balling this tree for awhile and I had something totally different in mind for this image until I saw Todd's great silhouette shot from Arches. I shot this not long after sunrise with the tree in shade and metered off the sky then slightly under-exposed. The tree went black and other than some dust spots, this required almost no post processing.
Comments most appreciated.

Nice I like it too, very simple black on blue. I wouldn't change a thing.

That is a great comp. Strong lines, and I really like the graphic silouhette against that blue. Excellent!

Simple, effective composition and love the color. Great work!

Strong lines, nice color, sharp but its got some writing all over it!

I was watching a Joe McNally tutorial DVD yesterday and he uses tungsten white balance to blue up the grey sky sometimes which I thought was quite creative. But then all his other lighting was by strobes.

Great image! I've been wanting to shoot that tree for a long time. I've got a few images of it but nothing nearly as good as this! I'm glad you found it. Great angle, lighting, processing, etc! :toast:

Thanks everyone. Erik, I knew you knew about this tree! As I was shooting I was looking around for your tripod holes.
