Great Blue Heron Rookery
Unbeknownst to me (like a lot of things), there's a GBH rookery in a piece of forest not too far from me. I have some friends who just moved to a home nearby, so they excitedly called me about their discovery (which others have known about for years). Anyway, I made my way out there yesterday and was quite impressed; seems that the chicks will be fledging sometime soon.

Pentax K20d, ISO400, this shot at 300 mm, second at 1200 mm...

Enjoy,

Tim!

Looks like a great location to shoot. I've been shooting at a rookery along the Ice Age Trail but most of the good trees have blown down so I can get a nice clear shot like these.
