I wrote up an article on the Upper Mississippi River area that is one of the NPN features this month. There are a few images from the area included.

Might be of interest to the MWNP set if you have not been in the area before.

If you get a chance take a look and tell me what you think.

Thanks.

Note, the typos are not mine.

Excellent article, Darren. However, if I encounter more people next winter, trying to shoot eagles, I will be very upset!! LOL!! I say, let them drive through or fly by and we can just keep it amongst ourselves! Last fall, I did the Great River drive and saw about 30 cars in the course of the weekend. That was too much traffic!
I suggest a retraction, based on selfishness, and the fact that I don't play well with others!!

Great article and nice shots too!

Nice article. I always enjoy driving along the river although I have not been very successful in shooting birds. Last year we drove down to the National Eagle Center and didn’t see an Eagle. Drove back home and saw three of them around home. I would agree we don’t want too many people to find the area.

Thanks for the thoughts. I would agree I do not want the area to turn into Yosemite crowds, but I feel pretty sure it will not.

I do hope that some of the regional folks may get a few ideas from it for good areas close to home.

While I agree with Bruce, that a day without people sightings is a good day, I think that it will probably not generate that much of an influx of travel. (if it does then we just get you to write about some other places and they will go there). Also the people that read articles on NPN probably won't want to see us anymore than we want to see them. If it generates some lovely images to view it will be worth it. Good article BTW.

Nice article, thanks for pointing it out. You've provided some food for thought re regional locations.
