Matt, I spoke to the NFS in Greeley this morning, the fields for miles surounding Hwy 14 are full of white priarie primrose. Bill M went out there this morning to check it out, he confirmed the flowers alongside the Hwy 14 route, but said they would be hard to photograph (no strong background, their on private property etc).
The Buttes themselves also have flowers in the vicinity, especially cactus, but they aren't quite blooming yet.
As far as best time of day, this time of year the thunderstorms start to build in the afternoon, so if dramatic skies are what you're looking for, then afternoon probably.
This Saturday the full moon rises at 8pm, sunset at 8.30 ish, potentially would be a good shot - but I have a feeling it'll be clouded over, worth checking on the forecast though!.
Well, maybe I'll scope it out Friday or Saturday evening and hit it back up next week when the flowers are in bloom. Especially the cactus, that'd be really great. Thanks, Nick!
I'll be interested in what you find, Matt. I was thinking of heading out there next weekend, too!

If you can catch some stormy sky drama that would be the best. Some of the most striking images I've seen from PB has that. If not, just stick around for sunset and see what you find. It's a compositional challenge with fair skies.
I was thinkin about heading up that way on Sat, I'll be in a White Chevy S-10. Scratch that, forgot about a dirt bike race I promised a friend I would take photos of. Maybe Sunday afternoon tho.
