Ouzel Falls repost
Thanks for the comments on the first image. I went into photoshop and made a couple adjustments. I used a cooling filter and tried to fix a couple of the blown areas. I'm not very good at photoshop yet so I dont know all the procedures for fixing blown areas. C&C on new image vs old welcome. Thanks

I don't think that using a cooling filter is the correct way fix the magenta cast present in the original. This just introduces a different color cast.
With the original image open, try opening either the Curves or Levels dialog, choose the grey eyedropper and then click on the top of the boulder in the middle of the image between the crossed logs. Using that eyedropper on neutral (or 'grey') tones will almost always eliminate a color cast correctly.
I think you'll see a subtle difference between those results and your second version.

I don't find the few 'blown out' areas to be distracting at all here.
You did a fine job finding, composing and capturing this view!

Is this any better? I did the grey eyedropper in curves.

On my monitor it looks like #2 has a cooler look without adding an additional cast. Looks better to me

I like the 2nd one. Love the comp, and mood.

The first one (in this post) is better to me, color-wise, it is a definite improvement from your previous topic, it is still just a little on the cool side. The second one on this post looks WAY, WAY too blue. I like this comp, very creative from this location. It looks like it could have been shot at one of the towering Oregon waterfalls.

I agree with John about the highlights. If you took another, darker, exposure you can use it to blend with this image to take care of the blown areas. If you don't have any other exposures, bring down the highlights a little more by clipping the right edge of your histogram using curves or levels. This will be a very delicate adjustment since you don't want to go too far making the highlight areas look gray.

Thanks for the comments and suggestions. I agree that the second one looks a little yoo blue for my tastes. I need to hire someone to show me the phoyoshop ins and outs so I can make fine adjustments. I really like this comp and hope I can come away with something that really really works.

Jack, the composition is terrific! The fog really makes this special. I agree with the others about still needing some work. If you want a hand editing, I highly recommend hiring Nat Coalson to come and work with you for a couple of hours. He's helped me incredibly with my own processing.
