Hey all you Montanans (is that what you're called?)!

I'm heading to Glacier June 20-24 and then West Yellowstone June 24-26. I would like to find some old 1-room school houses and/or old farm buildings (circa late 1800s-early 1900s) to photograph in the area. Anyone know of some good places? Websites? Books? Sample images?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Amy - When I visited Montana last summer I bought a book called Big Sky Barns by Chuck Haney who is a professional photographer. It has terrific photos and locations of old barns all over Montana. Unfortunately I didn't find the book until I was waiting for my flight leaving Kalispell and saw it in the gift shop. But I will definitely be using it to find barns on my next trip out there. I spent most of my Montana vacation in Glacier N.P., but on my last day I was just too tired to do any more hiking (and carrying photo gear) so I just drove around around Montana for an entire day. What a beautiful state! I plan on doing that some more on my next trip with my barn book in hand! The book is published by Riverbend Publishing www.riverbendpublishing.com. Have a great time.......

I did some searching and found some one room schoolhouses in Gallatin County north of Yellowstone which would be a way into West. There are also some 'ghost towns' in SW Montana, like Virginia City, which have abandoned buildings.
