Bombina variegata
.... or Yellow Bellied Toad!

From a recent trip to Luxembourg.. I have a colleague who currently researching amphibians in the region and I had the opportunity to join her in the field last week and encountered some nice herpetofauna species including this charismatic little fella.. The adults only grow to about 5cm in SV length, so quite a small toad.

Kind regards,

Brett

Hello Brett.

Lovely record shot of this toad and shows the markings of very well.

A few small nits for me. The first one would be to clone out the small piece of grass in the bottom right corner. And to clone out the white areas on the out of focus leg, and the small white patch in the black area by the left leg.

As Guy says, a good record shot Brett.

Ditto his suggestions too

A good portrait of an impressive looking species. I'd go with Guy's suggestion for losing the specular highlights on the leg.

The highlights don't bother me too much - most toads show this in real life as well as in pictures. The low viewpoint works well. I would have preferred a greater depth of field, but you can't have everything when working with these little guys.
