Cracking shot Major -certainly razor sharp. Not sure about the comp though. Bit more surround maybe with certainly more on the left. The bottom flower seems a bit "edgy "
Cheers

Looks very good, I also think comp looks not quite right.
Do you have in camera sharpening on?

No in camera sharpening Tim. As far as comp goes deliberately kept things to the left as I didnt want it to appear to central. Have I done wrong there?

Is this any better?

A conundrum for sure, try straightening the flower sometimes central is fine. I like the first perhaps a little more head (top) room is all it needs.
Both are great, excellent.

Tim
A little off the right on the second

Hello Major.

For me the second one is much better. Very nice.

Hi Major,

Looks like you've taken to flower photography easy enough with a fine pair of images. I like them both but the second one is my favourite of the two.

Many thanks for your comments all.
There was over 100 spikes of these all together in a very vunerable spot.
I knew of this site about fifteen years ago when I went along to see about three.
I was somewhat surprised to find as many as I did and a great spectacle to behold.
It is near to the edge of the road and whilst taking these images a dog walker stopped and asked me if my camera was broken. When I pointed out what I was doing he couldnt believe it as he walked passed on a daily basis. Just shows you how blinkered most of us are.
He did however recognise it was an orchid due to Springwatch I think.
