Just got back from a too short of a trip to the Palouse. This was taken Thursday nite at the edge of a thunderstorm....there was lightning all around us including the area behind the windmill but unfortunately we never captured any of that....gotta get one of those triggers.

That's some very dramatic color! I think I prefer it with the dark cloud cropped off the top.
I agree, I prefer it that way too. From a fine art standpoint I would definitely crop off some of the dark cloud at the top. From a stock standpoint (which is all I care about) I think I will leave it as is.....it creates room for type if some end user is so inclined.

That's kind what I think of most of the time when composing, too. Cropping to the traditional 8x10/11x14/16x20 format for prints lets you have it both ways.
How were the wheat fields? I'm heading over to the Palouse Weds-Fri this coming week.
Greg--things are running a little late over there. The winter wheat is coming along nicely but the spring wheat and the lentils are a good 3 weeks behind (according to the farmers we talked to). However, there is always something to do in that area. I'll be heading back toward the end of July.
