Last summer I was lucky enough to borrow a 500 mm F4 lens, and I went to a local hide to get some shots of small birds. Imagine my surprise (and disappointment) when this little chap and his (or her) friend turned up. Joy to be in the presence of such delightful companions, and frustration that all I could get was head and shoulders.
They did come back several times over the next few weeks, along with one fleeting visit by mum.

Hi Mike, after spending four hours in a hide next to my local fox den from 3.30am this morning and getting nothing I'm very very jealous! Cracking shot Mike
Know the feeling when things get too close. Have you tried backing across the hide Mike I try to do it in the car.
Like the subject and its expression. Does look slightly washed out though.
