My new hard drive is much faster

I probably doubled the speed of certain operations by buying a new hard drive. My PS CS4 loads in 13 sec, versus 24 seconds before. Also, many other actions are much faster: displaying large number of RAW file thumbnails, JPG thumbnails, writing huge TIFF files to disc, Adobe Bridge...

I had a 250GB HD that came with my Dell desktop a year ago. Now I bought the 640GB WD Caviar Blue, which is one of the fastest hard drives on the market. I am really impressed with the speed of my computer now.

Just wanted to share, in case someone is looking for a fast hard drive. :toast:

Momo - if you really want to speed up your drive(s) you should try and take two or more drives and configure them in a Raid 0. I have done this with a two "working" drives and they are extremely fast. I did this because my master files are usually around one GB in size and sometimes bigger. Just be sure you have a backup drive because a failure on either of the Raid 0 drives would result in total data loss.

I wish I could do something to mine. It sure seems to be getting slower. Congratulations on the upgrade.
