I get this "bird" at my feeders a lot as well. I think your response was the right one. Between the squirrel eating the bird's food and the cat eating the hedgehog's I sometimes wonder quite what it is I am baiting. Nice capture by the way.

Although they are consumate thieves John I quite like squirrels, so chucking a brick at one is not very sporting. Much better to use a 177 air rifle and then fry lightly with some onion and garlic and serve with chips !

Cheers
Robert.
ps. good picture.

Thanks both. I thought I might send this to Prince Charles as a Christmas card
They really are getting bad around here. I was doing Woodpeckers yesterday and had 9 on the lawn at once ( Squirrels that is )- only 5 woodies.!
Cheers
John

Some girls in my office were talking about getting some squirrels as an unusual barbeque item. The local butcher said he could supply them, but suggested waiting until autumn when they are a lot fatter. Apparently they also come with a nut stuffing at that time of year

Ahh a great wingless tree rat, just north of here, they eradicate them with viggor, but they can not keep up with demand from butchers and restaurants so are moving south, the good news is that the reds move in very quickly once they have gone.

Reds are in a few isolated spots as far south as durham and north yorkshire, all spreading down from northumberland as the greys disapear. :jump:

John

Still makes a nice photo, no different over here all reds though and can they climb. I have now moved the feeders to 10ft greased pole. Fighting off raccoon and squirrel raiders.

Good one John. Nice rich, saturated colour here, but not over done.

Thanks Sqidgel lovers !
Major- that's the trouble with the lens only going down to 100mm- cant get the big stuff in ! If he'd curled it up like a proper squirrel does !!
