Golden Eagle - Aquila chrysaetos (C)
Having just come back and saw Andy A & Vince's comments on Julian Cox posting I thought I better expand and clarify. I am not justifying it, just adding a bit more info that Julian had not included.

- The shot was taken on one of Danny's days.
- The fox had been acquired from a farmer the day before when I was out early photographing, just by chance. We also had a rabbit too. The choice, not sure who made that.
- The eagle was not really interested in the carcassas as it has been well feed and was getting ready for displays later, but my guess was it had a keen sense of smell

Trust this helps.

Hello Steve.
I don`t know what you are trying to show in this picture. It is not clear enough.Eagle is cut in half, the sky is on that right corner, fox is cut in half???You are not close enough or not far enough. It is a bizarre picture. For me it does not work, sorry.Maybe,You should have ask Danny more advise,. that is why you are paying him for. Giving you advise....I hope that you took many other pictures during that workshop...
Best of luck and best wishes

Hi Steve
I viewed this and then went to read the post you mentioned then came back and see Frederics comments, They are what i initially thought in a round about way, The light looks tough,A higher position would have cut the sky out which is very distracting, Not one of your best compositionally for the reasons stated above,

Cheers Fredrick, straight to the point here, no worries, however I don't normally do these, but the chance of a Golden Eagle was too tempting.

Hi DC, probably not, it was getting towards sixish and one of the warmest days here, bright blue sky etc not ideal on reflection. Just put it down to experience. :wavey:

Lovely rich looking colour, reminds me of Velvia.

Hello Steve

I think Frederic might have other issues so don't take his blunt comments to seriously

Not your best from the day I know for sure, I left this set-up until last as I think they don't always work and I think looking at my own stuff I don't think it worked as well as it could, it is very difficult making these kind of shots look natural. Worth a try though Steve as you and Graham seemed exicited about the fox even though you did get me out of bed at 7.30 on my only day off in six months

Danny, Frederic, no worries, sometimes criticism is hard at times, but as I said, on reflection, possibly not the best of the day.

I like it and remember you liked it steve thats why you pressed the shutter button and for me that 's the important thing here, you could clone out the blue sky to balance out the BG, but its no big deal, nice photo    :wavey:

After reading all this,I wonder a little about where nature photography is going. - And I don;t think I like it.
I cannot understand why any one should want to pay to do some shots that others are getting
the same of. Why not just do it yourself ? Believe me - the satisfaction is far greater.
Just my own views after becoming quite worried about the way this forum is going.
