Brown Bear in a Snow Shower
Just got back from Finland where I have been photographing Brown Bears. Last year I went with Edwin and we were blessed with fantastic weather but this year it was a real mix bag with sun, rain and snow typical of a finnish spring. I placed the food out so I could get the Bears smaller in the frame putting this beautiful animal in context with its environment.

Canon 1DS MK11, 500mm lens, 1/320, F4, ISO 200

Hi Danny,

Superb. Without the falling snow it would still be good, but with it, it's excellent.

Danny - a magical moment and a superb image. I love this kind of shot with loads of space around the subject, and with the snow falling, the vertical format just works perfectly. Cracker!

you say, "I placed the food out so I could get the Bears smaller in the frame putting this beautiful animal in context with its environment".

Did you bait you own bear, that is a incredible achievement! Well done indeed. Most of the picture are taken at the site where you have to pay to photograph them and just press the button. But to do that on your own is superb!
I pull off my hat to you Danny well done indeed.

You give me to much praise frederic I still had to pay for the same place just was given more freedom to do what I wanted to do. Most of the shots you see of the Bears are close-ups because that is where the food is put I just wanted to feed them further away and achieve a result like this.

oh too good...only thing I could think of was whether the slanting tree is distracting but guess you couldn't do much about that - still just brilliant...
