I went to the Gyp Hills in southern Kansas on Fri. and drug my folks along for the ride. They live in Cheney and had never been there, even though it's only an hour and a half from their house. I was pleasantly surprised to find these hills were almost as lush as the Flint Hills. I was even happier when we got to the west end of the scenic byway near Coldwater and started seeing carpets of wildflowers blooming! Of course, I had to stop and try to capture it. I was partial to this shot because the coil of barbed wire adds some additional interest to the scene.
These are indian blanket flowers. I'll likely post a few close-ups in flora once I process a few. My mom was a good sport and tried her best to block the wind and steady a few blooms so I could get close ups.
Angela-So many things to like about this photo. Power shapes, leading lines and perspective. The *%&$ power lines will make for some fun cloning. I'd say it's worth it to make this perfect!
An open-grown tree amid a sea of flowers is hard to beat. A lovely vision of springtime color in Kansas. Definitely NOT the Kansas of Dorothy and Toto!

What a lovely scene Angela, I'm glad your trip was productive. Awfully nice of your mom to act as a wind block for some intimate shots. Hope to see some of those here too. Thanks for sharing!
