Avian photography is not my thing, but this bird has been taunting me for about two months now. So I figured I had better take its picture. Its not the greatest shot ever, but since I know where it lives and I drive by it twice a day I figure with a little patience and luck I can get some better shots.

Here is another shot, http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2424/3612806666_964fb005f3_o.jpg I like the face on this one.

Any photo of a Scissortailed flycatcher is something to celebrate. They are the most elegant birds of the prairie. Thanks for sharing.

I've been seeing a few of these around my area lately. They are a graceful looking bird and one I'd like to get in front of the lens someday. Nice shot Matthew, thanks for sharing.

Hey Wayne just come to Conway, AR. I'll take you right to a pair of them that aren't camera shy at all.

Nice shot Matt..I saw a pair as I drove by the country club this evening...They were having a mid-air fling!

I've found that the longer lens you have, the more fun you can have shooting birds. I like the other one more!

Yea Aaron I like the second one better as well, although I think it needs a bit more punch in photoshop. Yea the longer lenses would be nice. Although I can't complain too much, I took this out of the car window with the 55-200, the same one I dunked in Smith Creek. It is amazing how much closer I can get to a bird in a car than on foot.
