I recently returned from leading a grizzly photo tour in a remote (=internet-less) location to discover that one of my images had been selected as "Image of the Year" by the Creative Nature Photography (CNP) online community! It was a very nice surprise and I'm honoured to have my image (entitled Orca Art) selected. In describing the image and selection process the judges said "This image by Brad Hill scored very high on all dimensions - creativity, artistic/emotional impact and technical mastery. We found this composition by Brad very bold. This combined with splendid action and flawless execution made the image very unique to us."
The winning image (along with field notes and technical information about image capture and processing) may be seen here on my website.
Alternately, my image and the other finalists (plus an explanation of the selection criteria) may be viewed here on CNP's website.
For those of you unfamiliar with CNP - it's an online community of nature photographers who strive to maximize the creativity of their images. The community was formed by Ganesh Shankar (who many of you probably know) and a number of other excellent nature photographers from India. While only a year old the community now includes photographers from all corners of the globe.
That's a stunning image. I just spent some time looking through your galleries and was blown away by your wildlife pictures. The bears are truly awesome.
