Smoke from fires in B.C. created a strange dim orange sun that looked almost like Jupiter.
Taken from south Whidbey Island. Weatherman in Seattle 30 miles south said the sky was fushia.

Had to do a lot of color adjusting in Lightroom to make it look close to what I saw. But my eyes did not see the yellow. It looked all orange to me.
So much for "digital manipulation". I think it starts with the camera, and then we "manipulate" how we want it to look - what we saw or what we create.
A few years back I was out in central Oregon when they had all those fires. (06'?). I was intrigued from the photo's but I didn't think I could do anything with them. Kind of feel the same with this one. Isn't it kind of rare for BC to have fires this early?

This is by far the best image of the sun I have ever seen!!!!!!

There are some fires in BC and the winds have pushed the smoke south, giving us some great sunsets recently.

Maybe I should go back and re think the images I took of the sun during the big fires in central Oregon. Didn't think they were special but from the comment's you recieved, I could be wrong.
I don't see anything wrong with this shot, but I'd be tempted to crop so the sun were either dead center left to right, or farther off center. Aesthetically its in an odd place for me.
If this is from a forest fire, it does seem awfully early in the year. Hopefully not signs of what is in store for us this summer....
